Company profile
SLV: The lighting specialist with global reach
Founded in 1979 and headquartered in Übach-Palenberg, SLV is one of Europe's leading luminaire manufacturers. The company develops, produces, and distributes modern, high-quality lighting solutions — from decorative residential lights to professional outdoor and commercial fixtures.
With 15 subsidiaries, over 600 employees across Europe, and a product range of more than 8,000 items sold in over 100 countries, SLV stands for lighting expertise on an international scale. This breadth of product brings corresponding demands on media management — thousands of product images, technical documents, and marketing materials that must be reliably available and always up to date.

Mission
Replace an aging DAM system and modernize media processes
SLV had been working with a well-known but outdated on-premises DAM system. It supported only a limited range of file formats, which increasingly created bottlenecks in day-to-day operations. Upgrading to a fully-featured media database would have been possible — but only at significantly higher licensing costs and with a highly complex migration process.
The inflexible licensing model and the absence of cloud infrastructure were the deciding factors: SLV chose to start fresh and evaluated the market for a modern, future-proof solution. The choice fell on TESSA DAM — in combination with Akeneo PIM and EIKONA Media as the implementation partner.
Challenge
Complex workflows and demanding system integration
The central challenge was not just data migration, but the tight integration of TESSA DAM into SLV's existing system landscape. Existing user workflows had to be accounted for, the product image search adapted to specific usage habits, and interfaces to adjacent systems built for performance from the outset.
Particularly critical: media must be available across more than 20 channels simultaneously — from web store to print production — always current and in the right format. A system that falters here has a direct impact on product launches and catalog production timelines.
Solution
Tailored product image search and Akeneo integration
The product image search in TESSA DAM was customized specifically to the workflows and habits of SLV's users. An Akeneo plugin enables direct access to all DAM media from within the PIM — no system switching, no manual synchronization. Interfaces were optimized to proactively prevent performance issues with connected systems.
Automated media distribution across all channels
With TESSA DAM, media distribution and channel supply run largely automatically. Product images are always current across all channels — web store, retailer portal, print media — without manual intervention. Multi-week catalog productions have been significantly accelerated through automated export of up-to-date product imagery.
Future-proof through modular architecture
Despite all customizations, TESSA DAM remains fully updatable thanks to its modular architecture. SLV is equipped not only for current requirements, but also for future growth and integration scenarios.
