Digital Asset Management for E-Commerce Manager

Automatically generate product images for each channel

Are there days between the photo shoot and the launch? Do you have to manually crop, convert, and upload images for every new product? TESSA handles the entire image workflow, from the photographer to the online store.

Tessa moves top brands

Here's how TESSA supports you and your team in e-commerce

Challenges

The photos come from the photographer, and then the manual processing begins: cropping, converting, renaming, and uploading. While that’s happening, the product appears in the store without an image.

Your solution with TESSA

The image slideshow plays automatically

TESSA handles the image processing. Output formats are defined once, and the system then automatically converts them for use in online stores, print, and social media. Through the store integration, the approved image is uploaded directly to the online store. No more manual uploads.

Challenges

A product is being updated. The new SKU has been entered in the PIM, but the old image is still displayed in the store because each variant must be updated individually.

Your Solution with TESSA

Manage systematically, share in a consolidated manner

TESSA organizes images according to product hierarchy. Variants can be replaced in bulk—one click instead of a hundred individual steps. The Akeneo connector automatically keeps PIM and DAM in sync. New products are available immediately without any extra effort.

Challenges

The photographer, retouching team, and shop team use email to confirm whether an image has been approved. The status isn't visible in any central location, so images sometimes go live before the review process is complete.

Your solution with TESSA

Status-based workflow for the entire team

In TESSA, every asset goes through a set of fixed steps: uploaded, retouched, reviewed, and approved. Everyone can see the current status at a glance. The shop is only supplied with the assets after they have been approved. No follow-up questions, no accidental publications.

FAQ

What happens to my product images if SKUs or variants change?

In TESSA, images are linked not by filenames but by product references. If an item number changes, the link to the asset remains intact, provided that the reference is updated accordingly. During a migration, we help ensure that the existing structure is transferred seamlessly to TESSA.

What image formats and resolutions does TESSA support for different output channels?

TESSA supports all common image formats (JPG, PNG, TIFF, WebP, SVG, etc.) and allows you to freely define output profiles: JPEG 800x800 for the online store, high-resolution TIFF for print, and PNG 1080x1080 for social media. These profiles are set up once and then automatically applied to every export.

How do e-commerce teams at other companies handle major seasonal image updates?

Most users take advantage of the bulk function in TESSA: All images for a product group are uploaded at once and assigned to the corresponding assets. Older versions are automatically moved to the archive. ZEG has implemented this process for multiple brands simultaneously, saving a significant amount of time during seasonal cycles.

How does the integration with our online store work from a technical standpoint?

EIKONA Media—the team behind TESSA DAM—handles the technical integration. Ready-made connectors are available for popular e-commerce platforms such as Shopware and Magento; for other systems, we use the open TESSA API. The effort required for initial setup is manageable, and for new projects, the store integration is typically part of the onboarding process.
